Revolution ECO Trolleys at St John’s

05.05.12 by PC Locs in Testimonials

To deter theft of valuable notebooks, St John’s Regional College purchased PC Locs Revolution ECO products.  “PC Locs has had a great reputation of securing IT assets in the education sector for some time now. PC Locs products lead the way in security, quality, workmanship, finish, and have been designed for ease of use. The units arrived and were assembled with minimum fuss”. –  Brian Griffith, ICT Manager.

Background and Introduction

St John’s Regional College is a coeducational Catholic Secondary College catering to some 1130 students from Years 7 -12.
St John’s enrolments are drawn from the five surrounding parishes and since its establishment in 1958; the College has endeavoured to provide the best possible education to students. It achieves this by constant implementation of better teaching practices, updating curriculum to suit industry demand, and keeping up to date with technological changes by providing students with business quality computers, notebooks and IT equipment.

Migration to Notebooks – Digital Education Revolution

St John’s Regional College, with the assistance of the Federal Government’s Digital Education Revolution funding, is moving into the new era of education. Computers and notebooks are now part of everyday life, both at home and at work. St John’s is committed to preparing students for life after school and has implemented a mobile 1:1 learning program at the College. Desktop PC’s are being replaced or complemented by notebooks in order to provide students with more frequent access. “The funding has been instrumental in updating computers and increasing student exposure to technology” – Brian Griffith.

Theft

Notebooks are indispensible educational and learning resources for schools. They are valuable items that may be easily stolen and can attract a quick sale. Theft of notebooks has a negative impact on both teachers and students. It restrains students learning, as well as teachers’ lesson plans. Brian Griffith comments that “theft creates an unwanted and unnecessary work load for IT staff in the replacement and configuration of new equipment.”

Security with PC Locs

To deter theft of valuable notebooks, St John’s Regional College employed the services of PC Locs Pty Ltd. Brian Griffith said “PC Locs has had a great reputation of securing IT assets in the education sector for some time now. PC Locs products lead the way in security, quality, workmanship, finish, and have been designed for ease of use. The units arrived and were assembled with minimum fuss”.
PC Locs notebook trolleys and notebook wall cages are primarily designed to secure notebooks and deter potential thieves. PC Locs notebook carts and notebook wall cages also have the capabilities to charge notebooks and the open design of its products also prevents notebooks from overheating unlike in enclosed cabinets.

St John’s Regional College decided to secure their new notebooks with a range of PC Locs security solutions. The College purchased five Revolution Range 16 Bay Notebook Trolleys, two Signature Range 6 Bay Wall Cages, and one Signature Range 12 Bay Wall Cage. “The great thing about the notebook trolley is that it not only secures notebooks, it can make any classroom a computer lab. We have elected to centrally locate the notebook trolleys which are equipped with the notebooks, so that they are available for dispersal to any classrooms on request. The notebook wall racks have been mounted in strategic classrooms”, explained Brian Griffith – ICT Manager.

The Future of ICT at St John’s Regional College

St John’s Regional College will continue to develop and assess the implementation of notebook computers. “Security of notebook computers is an essential part of any deployment and management plan and we will definitely use PC Locs products for facilitation of security, transport, protection and charging” – Brian Griffith.
