A self-made school demo shows FUYL Smart Locker in action 

North Allegheny School District isn’t just known for its academic excellence — it’s also quietly setting the standard for how schools support student technology. When the district rolled out FUYL Tower™ Smart Lockers from PC Locs, they took it one step further by creating their own student-facing demo video.

It’s a thoughtful, hands-on approach that reflects the same initiative we’ve seen from many forward-thinking schools — and serves as a standout example of how to help students confidently manage tech on their own. 

 

In North Allegheny’s demo, the interface is as straightforward as it gets: students walk up, tap the iPad, and choose from clearly labeled options — Charging, Loaning, or Repairs. Each workflow guides them step by step, using prompts tailored to the task at hand. 

  • Need a charge between classes? FUYL opens a bay with a built-in USB-C cable. Just plug in and go. 
  • Forgot your laptop? Choose “Loaning” to check out or return a device securely. 
  • Broken screen or keyboard issue? Tap “Repairs,” log in, describe the problem, scan the device ID, and drop off the device. FUYL provides a loaner on the spot—and auto-generates a help desk ticket so IT can get started immediately. 

And because the lockers are monitored electronically and backed by school security systems, staff never lose visibility or control. 

New to the mix: Deployments workflow 

With the recent addition of the Deployments workflow, any district using FUYL can now go even further. 

Need to assign a device for long-term use? No problem. IT teams can preload devices into lockers and assign them remotely. Students log in, tap “New Device,” and the correct bay opens automatically. It’s perfect for 1:1 programs, new student rollouts, or quick replacements — without the need for face-to-face handoffs. 

From the dashboard, admins get full visibility: which devices have been picked up, where inventory is running low, and whether assignments need to be reassigned or withdrawn.
